After years of watching my now husband grind coffee and being totally oblivious about how to make coffee from whole coffee beans, my oblivion is no more. Yay husband! He showed me how. Here is my step by step so I can make coffee from beans. We really like Mt. Comfort Coffee from Costco at the moment, and the brand of our grinder is Oxo. The benefits of grinding the coffee are depth of flavor, freshness, a boost in caffeination, and sometimes buying beans is cheaper or you get better quality.

What You Need for Grinding Coffee

• Whole coffee beans

• Coffee grinder

• Ideally a coffee maker of some sort so you can brew your ground coffee

Instructions

1. Fill the reservoir with beans. You don't necessarily need to fill it every time, depending on the size of the reservoir, but if there aren't enough beans, the machine won't work properly.

2. Set your coarseness level. For the coffee pot, we like level 9, which is medium coarseness.

3. Make sure the cup that holds the ground beans is properly attached. There should be a click.

4. Decide how many grounds you need. For three servings in the coffee maker, we do 20 sec. For one serving, 7 seconds is good. If you make more than you need, the grounds will last, but fresh ground will taste best and be most caffeinated (I think--still working on expert status here).

5. Push the center button (or whichever button makes the grinding happen), and let the coffee grinder do its thing.

6. Use your grounds to make coffee. Woohoo!
